What is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious bacterial infection that destroys the tissues, ligaments, and bone supporting the teeth, leading to inflammation, tooth mobility, and, if untreated, tooth loss. It is caused by plaque buildup and often presents without pain, featuring symptoms like red, bleeding gums, receding gumlines, and chronic bad breath.
Do dental cleanings hurt?
Routine dental cleanings are typically comfortable and help prevent gum disease and tooth decay. If you experience sensitivity, please let our team know so we can make your visit more comfortable.
Are X-Rays necessary?
Absolutely. Dental X-Rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools. Many oral conditions occur between teeth or under the gums or bones, undetectable by the human eye, and may have no early signs or symptoms. Left untreated, these conditions can create serious dental and general health problems, including loss of teeth and heart problems. Early detection with X-Rays can make treatment much less painful, faster, and less expensive.
Do you treat children?
Yes! We provide dental care for patients of all ages and strive to make every visit a positive experience for children and families.
At what age should my child first see a dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends children visit the dentist by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears.
